LS460

The rhythm of silence.

The beauty of the LS460 is only matched by its performance. The silence of the car, however, ensures that its elegance is not overcome by its power. The advanced V8 aluminium engine takes the LS from 0 to 100 km per hour in less than 5.4 seconds. To do this requires 280 kW of power and 493 Nm of torque. This produces what would be expected from a 5-litre engine, with the economy of a 3-litre engine. Such is guaranteed by the advanced Dual Valve Variable Timing-intelligent Electric (VVT-iE) technology - timing intake and exhaust to the Newton metre. Intelligent and economical.

The near perfect balance of the vehicle’s weight distribution is enhanced by its Adaptive Variable Suspension (AVS) which modulates the shock absorbers for driving under various conditions; comfortable driving is a given. The LS460 also employs the world’s first 8-speed automatic transmission, controlled electronically by artificial intelligence (AI). The AI interprets the incline of the road to reduce gear shifting, and thus noise and shock. As perfection has it, noise is intolerable, as it is for Lexus engineers.

Hands-free parking with Intelligent Parking Assist
Even a simple task like parking is handled with remarkable precision. With Intelligent Parking Assist (IPA)*, the LS460 offers stress-free parking. Simply touch the IPA pre support switch on the steering wheel for standard or parallel parking. Beeps will tell you where to position the car and when to select reverse. Then there’s little for you to do but control the speed of the vehicle by touching the brake pedal.

Rear Seat Entertainment System
For rear seat passengers, the surround sound system is complemented by a power operated 9" Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) screen, integrated within the ceiling, letting you play DVD movies at the touch of the remote. Additionally movies can be played on the front Electro Multi Vision (EMV) screen while the vehicle is stationary.

Safety as predictable as the performance.
For added peace of mind, the Lexus Pre–Collision safety System (PCS)* can help reduce collision injury and damage. A radar sensor in the front grille constantly scans for objects in front of the car. If the system determines that a collision is unavoidable, it retracts the front seatbelts and signals the Brake Assist to increase braking force help reduce collision speed.

This, is aided by the Electronic Brake-force Distribution system (EBD) which monitors the braking of individual wheels and calls on the Brake Assist System (BAS) to compensate when harder braking is exerted. The true potential of the LS460 is inherent in its ability to perform and its obligation to protect. In fact the L-Finesse sculpture of the body does more than feed the imagination, but is reinforced to absorb impact in case of collision.

The reassurance of Pre–Collision safety
For added peace of mind, the Lexus Pre–Collision safety System (PCS)* can help reduce collision injury and damage. A radar sensor in the front grille constantly scans for objects in front of the car. If the system determines that a collision is unavoidable, it retracts the front seatbelts and signals the Brake Assist to increase braking force help reduce collision speed.

Imagine slipping into a parking space without even turning the steering wheel. Simply align the car ahead of your intended park and, using the buttons on the Electro Multi Vision (EMV) display, select reverse and remove your hands from the wheel. Intelligent Parking Assist (IPA) parks the car with breathless precision, leaving little for you to do but touch the brake pedal to regulate speed.

*Intelligent Parking Assist is designed as a driver assist device only and should not be used as a substitute for skilled driving and safe parking practices. The driver should watch the area into which the vehicle is to be reversed, react appropriately and ensure compliance with all road rules. Intelligent Parking Assist requires brake control.
