While all Lexus vehicles appeal to the senses, the duty charged the IS-F was to make this appeal to the senses heightened, to stir the driver’s emotions yet maintain the refinement that one would expect from Lexus. The IS-F combines core Lexus technology to create an all-round high performance car that redefines the motoring experience at every level.
To enhance the power of the IS to create the IS-F, the engineers replaced the 2.5-litre V6 engine with a compact 5-litre V8, with the world’s fastest 8-speed Direct Sport Shift (DSS) transmission, shifting gears in an instant 0.1 seconds. The result is a response time that was previously only found on upper-end motor sport vehicles and an unparalleled driving experience.
To control this power so comfortable on the track, the breaking and suspension systems were, too, taken from the track, yet were modified for everyday use. Add to this the Vehicle Dynamic Integrated Management (VDIM) system, D-4S* direct fuel injection and VVT-iE** variable valve timing, all driving components are orchestrated to create a symphony of motoring.
