Finesse becomes fast
When Yaguchi-san conceived of the Lexus IS in high-performance gear, he knew that the pristine L-Finesse design of the range had to be upgraded to meet the engine’s capacity. The body aerodynamically caters for front air intakes and adds lowered sports suspension, which not only enables better handling but magnifies the performance look. The IS-F’s sporty appearance is carried through to the rear spoiler and 19-inch BBS® forged aluminium wheels with 10-spoke design. The quadruple trapezoidal exhaust pipe design also enhances the vehicle’s high-performance as well as sports image.
Like the electrochromatic review and side mirrors, the ultra violet and heat insulating, tinted glass protects the driver from light blindness by reducing glare. The front and rear parking sensors also improve driver visibility by warning of objects close to the vehicle’s body.
Typically Lexus, the High Intensity Discharge (HID) bi-xenon headlights make use of the state-of-the-art Intelligent-Adaptive Front-lighting (i-AFS) which shift the beam of the headlights according to the direction of the steering wheel. When approaching a corner, the lights illuminate the road ahead instead of the edge of the road, improving visibility. Similarly, the the auto-leveling functionality makes sure the lights are angled properly, to allow for a wider field of vision without blinding oncoming traffic.
